PropEquity, an real estate data, research and analytics firm has raised Rs 25 crore through an initial public offering (IPO), Samir Jasuja, Founder and Managing Director of the company told ET.

The company will use the fund to expand its presence in more cities and improve its tech offering.

“A lot of developers use our data to identify the benefit of the area where they are going to launch a project. PropTech companies have received good responses from the market. The fund will help us to expand our presence, especially in tier 2 cities, which has witnessed a lot of traction post covid,” said Jasuja.

According to a CBRE report, leading developers have raised over INR 18,700 crore (USD 2.4 billion) through the QIP and IPO routes since FY2019.

Private equity (PE) investments in proptech firms has increased by 35% in 2021 to a record USD 741 million, driven by increased adoption of technology in the real estate sector, according to the latest report by the REA India owned digital real estate platform Housing.com.

The report found that the inflow of funds into proptech firms stood at USD 551 million in the 2020 calendar year. The proptech industry in India has received a total of USD 3.2 billion private funding between 2009 and 2021.

The investments tracked include private equity, venture capital, debt, PIPE (Private investment in public entities), project level investments, and pre-IPO private equity deals, at the early, growth and late stage.

Private equity investments in proptech firms have been growing at a CAGR of 55 per cent since 2010.

The latest trends show that while proptech segments such as sales and marketing continue to garner investor interest, private equity inflow has significantly picked up in construction technology amidst the rise in input costs, as digitisation aids in achieving greater efficiency and increases cost savings.
